Experience the Retreat

This Panchakarma retreat follows the traditional principles of Ayurveda, cleansing the body while looking after your physical and mental wellbeing. It runs in three stages. Preparation uses internal oleation with medicated ghee, oil massage, herbal steam and a suitable diet, then the cleansing procedures may include Vamana, Virechana, Basti and Nasya, and a recovery phase follows.
Meditation, Hatha Yoga, pranayama and guided relaxation run through the stay, so days have structure beyond the treatments. Three vegetarian meals follow Ayurvedic principles and can be adjusted for vegan, gluten free or allergy needs. You stay in a private room with an attached bathroom and Wi-Fi, and Ayurvedic medicines and one outdoor activity on the off day are included.

Why This Retreat Stands Out

Most retreats hand you a schedule on arrival. Here an individual Ayurvedic consultation comes first, and the plan is written once a practitioner knows you. It may include Panchakarma alongside Shirodhara, Abhyanga, Snehan and Swedana, all given under professional supervision.

Dr Tanvi Dang Arora

Ayurveda Doctor

Dr Tanvi D Arora is a qualified Ayurvedic doctor, BAMS, and comes from a family that has practised this medicine for generations. She leads the Panchakarma programmes and takes the Ayurvedic consultations here.

Growing up inside a practice is a different training from choosing one. She had seen Ayurveda applied to real people for years before she ever opened a textbook on it, and that shows in how quickly a consultation with her gets past the obvious.

Her plans are built for the individual. Diet, daily routine and emotional habits all go into them, alongside whatever Panchakarma therapies are indicated, and the four are treated as one plan rather than four pieces of advice.

The part guests tend to find useful is what comes at the end. A routine that worked inside a retreat is no use if it collapses in the first week at home, so what she sends a guest away with is scaled to the life they are actually going back to.

Mohan Chatti sits on the edge of Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, ringed by the lower Himalayan hills, forest and the wide green valley of the Ganges.Away from the busy town centre it is quiet here, yet you are still close to the temples, the adventure sports, the cafes and the markets that Rishikesh is known for.

Fresh mountain air, birdsong and long views across the hills fill the days, which is much of the reason people choose this side of town for practice and rest. The property has a fully equipped yoga studio, comfortable rooms, a rooftop, a dining area, gardens and common spaces to sit in, with Wi-Fi throughout the building.
A local market is about 300 to 400 metres away, so everyday essentials are easy to pick up without arranging transport, which helps on a longer stay. The area around you carries the natural beauty and the spiritual history that made Rishikesh one of the best known yoga destinations in the country.
In free time, guests visit Laxman Jhula and Ram Jhula, Parmarth Niketan Ashram, Triveni Ghat for the evening Ganga Aarti, and Neer Garh Waterfall. There is white water rafting for anyone who wants it, along with nature walks and a string of riverside cafes to sit at in the afternoon.

The mix of mountain scenery, spiritual heritage and outdoor life suits both a short retreat and a longer training programme of several weeks. It is the sort of place where the day is shaped by practice and by the light on the hills, rather than by traffic and noise.

Travel Information

flight

Fly into Jolly Grant Airport (DED) in Dehradun, the nearest airport at about 21 km away. It has regular domestic flights from New Delhi and good connections to other major Indian cities.
International travellers usually arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in New Delhi first, then take a connecting domestic flight to Dehradun.
Taxis and private cabs wait at the airport, and the drive to the centre takes around 40 to 50 minutes through the scenic Himalayan foothills, which is a pleasant enough introduction to the region.

train

The nearest major railway station is Haridwar Junction (HW) in Uttarakhand, well connected with Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow and several other cities.
From Haridwar, hire a taxi or take a shared cab towards Mohan Chatti by way of Rishikesh. The road journey usually takes 45 to 60 minutes.
Guests arriving at Rishikesh Railway Station can also continue comfortably by taxi, and the last part of the drive is a short one from there.

bus

Regular government and private buses connect Rishikesh Bus Stand with Delhi, Haridwar, Dehradun, Chandigarh and other nearby cities, with both ordinary and Volvo services running daily.
Once you reach Rishikesh, take a taxi, an auto rickshaw or a shared vehicle for the last stretch towards Mohan Chatti. The road is well kept and the views of the hills and forest along it are worth the window seat.

taxi

Prepaid taxis and private cabs are available at Jolly Grant Airport, Haridwar Junction Railway Station, Rishikesh Railway Station and the Rishikesh Bus Stand.
You can also book a local taxi service in advance if you would rather have someone waiting for you. The drive runs through mountain roads and riverside country before it reaches the centre.

car

The centre is easy enough to reach by road from the major cities of North India. Driving from Delhi takes roughly 5 to 6 hours by NH334.
From Haridwar or Dehradun it is a comfortable run through Rishikesh and on towards Mohan Chatti, with the hills opening up as you go. Parking is available nearby, so self drive works well here if you would rather have your own vehicle.

FAQ's

Panchakarma runs in stages, and preparation, cleansing and recovery each need time. Twenty one days gives all three room, and a 28 day version exists if your assessment points that way.

A customised Ayurvedic vegetarian diet built to support your treatments, served three times a day. Expect herbal tea, porridge, rice, vegetables and soup rather than anything heavy, and tell the kitchen about vegan, gluten free or allergy needs at the start.

A private room with attached bathroom, three vegetarian meals a day, Ayurvedic medicines, daily treatments, yoga, meditation and Wi-Fi are included. Ask the centre about anything else before you book.
