Experience the Retreat

Therapies include Abhyanga, the warm oil body massage, Shiroabhyanga for the head, Shirodhara and a mud bath, with a facial and hair pack and a coconut or turmeric scrub on the beauty side. Sound therapy sits alongside the Ayurvedic work, and the pace leaves time to rest between sessions. Every therapy is chosen after a consultation with the doctor, so the plan reflects how you arrive.
Depending on when your three days fall in the week, a doctor session, the weekly Havan, a cooking preparation, a garden visit or a cultural activity may be part of your stay. Panchakarma is not offered at this length, so anyone dealing with chronic conditions is better served by the 7, 14 or 21 day programmes rather than this short stay.

Why This Retreat Stands Out

Three days is short, so the plan concentrates on therapies that relax and restore rather than on deep cleansing. A facial and hair pack and a coconut or turmeric scrub sit beside the classic Ayurvedic treatments, bringing Ayurvedic care and beauty care together in one short stay.

Host & Team

CHITHRAKOOTA AYURVEDA CHIKITHSALAYA

Organizer

A residential Ayurvedic centre on about 18 acres of green land, deliberately simple rather than resort-styled. More than 150 medicinal plants grow on the property alongside farm-grown fruits and vegetables, with a Desi cow farm and an in-house pharmacy where the centre prepares its own medicines.

Accommodation runs from air-conditioned single and double rooms to VIP rooms, and yoga and meditation are part of the daily schedule in Chitrakoota rather than optional extras. Founded in 2010 by two Ayurvedic physicians, the centre treats guests on a plan set after assessment rather than on a fixed package.
Dr Rajesh Bayari

Facilitator

Dr Rajesh Bayari

Owner & Ayurveda Panchakarma Physician

Dr Rajesh Bayari holds a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery from ALN Rao Memorial Ayurvedic Medical College in Koppa, Chikmagaluru.

He founded this centre in 2010, and it began as a single room clinic. What he wanted was simple enough to describe and harder to build, a place where Ayurvedic care could be given properly and in quiet surroundings, with the hills and the greenery doing part of the work.

Fifteen years on, that one room has grown into a full wellness centre and is counted among the better known Ayurvedic treatment centres in the state. The treatments remain the point, given systematically, with the equipment and the trained hands a classical therapy actually requires.

Guests who come here meet a doctor who has been looking after this place since the beginning, and who still sits with each person before any treatment is decided.

INDIA

Aloor is a rural destination in Kundapura taluk of Karnataka's Udupi district, surrounded by the
characteristic greenery of the coastal Karnataka landscape. The area offers a quieter setting away
from busy urban centres, while Kundapura, around 12 km away, provides access to shops, banks,
transport and other everyday conveniences.

The retreat setting itself extends across about 18 acres of green land. In Chitrakoota can walk among
more than 150 medicinal plants, see farm-grown fruits and vegetables, visit the Desi cow farm and
learn about Ayurvedic medicines prepared in the in-house pharmacy. Daily yoga and meditation take
place on the property, adding a structured wellness element to the stay.

The sounds here are distinctly rural, with birds, vegetation and the gentle rhythm of village life
replacing city traffic. The coastal climate brings warm air and seasonal rain, while the surrounding
greenery gives the property a distinctly natural character.

The speciality of this part of Udupi is the combination of coastal landscapes, temple traditions, local
cuisine and living folk culture. Guests can use their free time to explore Kodi Beach, Maravanthe
Beach, Anegudde Sri Vinayaka Temple, Malpe Beach and St. Mary's Island, and Udupi Sri Krishna
Temple. Kodi is particularly distinctive because the Suvarna River meets the Arabian Sea there.
