Experience the Retreat
The 200 hour and 300 hour syllabuses run as one continuous training course over the fifty six days for guests booking in. Asana covers Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa, aerial and Yin styles, with alignment, modification and adjustment taught alongside the postures rather than after them in isolation.

Pranayama, meditation, mantra chanting and the Shatkarma cleansing practices are taught as subjects in their own right. Anatomy and physiology are pitched at keeping a mixed class safe rather than at passing an exam.

Teaching methodology and daily practice teaching run throughout the course from the first week. Saturdays are exams, Sundays are for rest, and a break between modules lets the body recover.

Why This Retreat Stands Out
Most take years to reach RYT 500: the 200 hour, then home, then back when life allows for it. This package runs both modules back to back with a rest break between. For anyone with a clear window, it is the difference between finishing and half finishing this journey, allowing you to immerse fully in Goa and emerge as a certified, advanced yoga teacher in one seamless flow.

Food Details
Three freshly cooked vegetarian meals are served each day, plant based and aligned with Ayurvedic principles. The cooking is designed to satisfy without weighing anyone down, which matters on a schedule that starts with practice before breakfast.

Meals are eaten together, and that shared table does as much for the group as the classes do. The kitchen is strictly vegetarian as a matter of school policy, and dietary requirements should be raised at the time of booking so the kitchen can plan for them.

The school sits in Goa, a five-minute walk from the beach, in tropical surroundings that stay quiet even in season. A swimming pool, practice spaces, and open green make up the campus, and the sound of the sea carries as far as the yoga hall.

The excursions go where most visitors never look. A hidden lake for meditation, a cave to sit in, a sunset point reached on foot, local temples, and a village dinner in a local villager's home rather than a restaurant. Dolphin watching and backwater kayaking are there for anyone who wants more.

Travel Information

flight

Goa has two airports, Manohar International Airport at Mopa in the north and Goa International Airport at Dabolim in the south, both with domestic flights from every major Indian city and a growing international schedule.

A one way airport transfer is included in the course fee, so flight details should be sent to the school ahead of arrival. The return journey is arranged by the guest, and the school can advise on the best option for the departure time.

train

Madgaon Junction is the main railhead in the south and Thivim the usual choice for the north, both on the Konkan Railway with direct services from Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Delhi and Kerala. Overnight trains from Mumbai arrive in the morning.

From either station a taxi covers the last stretch to the campus. Booking that car ahead is worth doing, since taxi availability at Goan stations thins out late in the evening.

bus

Long distance buses run to Goa from Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, with sleeper and air conditioned services on most routes. Journeys from Mumbai and Bengaluru usually run overnight.

Buses drop at Mapusa, Panaji or Margao depending on the operator, and a local taxi covers the rest of the way. Guests arriving by bus should send their arrival point to the school so directions can be sent through.

taxi

Taxis are easy to find across Goa, from airport counters, local operators and app based services in the main towns. The included airport transfer covers the arrival, so a taxi is mostly needed for departures and day trips.

Give the driver the campus address supplied by the school at booking, since the lanes near the beach are narrow and not always well signposted. Agreeing the fare before setting off avoids any confusion at the end.

car

Goa is reached from Mumbai in about ten to twelve hours and from Bengaluru in around twelve, on national highways that are in good condition for most of the route. Pune to Goa runs closer to nine hours.

Within Goa, scooters and cars are widely available to hire, which makes exploring the beaches and villages straightforward on the rest days. Parking is available at the campus and should be confirmed when booking.

FAQ'S

It is the honest hurdle, and most guests plan six to twelve months ahead. Batch dates are published well in advance, which is what makes the leave feasible. If the window is not there, the 200 hour alone is the sensible starting point.

Yes, and older practitioners often do best because they know how to pace an intensive schedule. Beginner and intermediate practitioners are welcome, and nobody is assessed on what they can already do on day one.

Taught sessions run from 7:30 am to about 6:00 pm with breaks. Saturdays are for exams and Sundays are rest, and a rest break between modules lets your body reset before the second half.

Yes. Graduates receive a Yoga Alliance accredited 500 hour certificate and can apply directly for RYT 500 registration. The registration fee is separate and paid directly to Yoga Alliance

An air conditioned room with pool access, three vegetarian meals a day, an Ayurvedic massage and all sessions and materials. A yoga mat, school bag, t shirt, jal neti pot and a one way airport transfer come with the booking.

Air conditioned accommodation with pool access, a one way airport transfer, three vegetarian meals a day, all classes and excursions, a complimentary Ayurvedic massage, a yoga mat and props, a school bag and t-shirt, and a Jal Neti pot.

Visa fees, travel other than the one way airport transfer, extra nights, Yoga Alliance registration, laundry, meals outside the scheduled times, personal shopping and payment transaction charges.

An air conditioned female dormitory, an air conditioned room shared between two, or an air conditioned private room. All three have the same access to the swimming pool, the practice spaces and the campus.

The kitchen and the campus are strictly vegetarian, and alcohol and smoking are not permitted. The site is shared with a resort and a cafe where other options exist, but students follow the school rules throughout their stay.

Arrivals are on Mondays, with Tuesday check-in also available, and the programme runs in a three week cycle that then repeats. Saturdays are half days and Sundays are set aside for rest.

Further Details About the Retreat

Arrivals are on Mondays and the programme runs to a weekly rhythm, so mid week joining is only possible by prior approval. The daily schedule can shift with weather and conditions, and each day is confirmed through a group chat the evening before.

Two house rules matter more than the rest at India Yoga School. The kitchen is strictly vegetarian, and alcohol and smoking are not permitted anywhere on the campus, even though a resort and a cafe share the same site. Deposits are non refundable but can be transferred to another date for the same guest.
