What do you learn on an ayurvedic cooking course?
An ayurvedic cooking course teaches the six tastes, dosha-appropriate meal planning, spice tempering and staple dishes such as kitchari, ghee, buttermilk preparations and seasonal chutneys. Most courses cover 10 to 20 recipes across seven nights. Teaching follows Charaka Samhita and Ashtanga Hridayam food principles.

How long is an ayurvedic cooking retreat in India?

Is an ayurvedic cooking retreat hands-on or just watching?
Ayurvedic cooking retreats are mostly hands-on: guests typically spend two sessions a day cooking, with demonstrations kept to knife work, clarifying ghee and anything involving high heat. Class sizes are usually capped at 8 to 12. A printed recipe book goes home with you.
